CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Part of a busy road in northeast Charlotte had to be closed for hours after a crash damaged a power pole.
A portion of West Mallard Creek Church Road was closed in University City after the crash Sunday afternoon, and power was not expected to be fully restored to the area until 9 a.m. Monday.

The crash knocked out power to more than 300 customers.
The wreck happened on Alexander Pointe Drive, and West Mallard Creek Church Road remained closed between Highway 29 and Interstate 85.
Paramedics said one person was taken to the hospital after the crash but that they would be OK.
