CONCORD, N.C. — Police had to block a busy road in Concord early Tuesday morning following a police chase and crash.
Troopers were pursuing a vehicle around 4 a.m. on Poplar Tent Road before the driver crashed near Rock Hill Church Road.
Officials told Channel 9 that troopers pulled the driver over after they clocked him going 98 mph on Interstate 85, but when the trooper walked up to the car, that driver sped off.
After a short pursuit, the driver ended up hitting a curb and flipping the car on Poplar Tent Road, troopers said.
Investigators said three people were in the car, and the backseat passenger had 11 outstanding warrants.
That person's name has not been released.
All three were taken to the hospital but will be OK, officials said.
Poplar Tent Road was blocked in both directions as authorities worked to clean up the scene, but was reopened around 4:45 a.m.
