CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A water main break could force police to block a portion of a busy road in uptown Charlotte early Thursday morning.
The break happened just after 6 a.m. in the 700 block of East Fourth Street, near the Mecklenburg County Jail.
Charlotte Water was aware of the problem and were sending crews to the scene. It is unclear what caused the rupture.
Channel 9 also learned that the town of Cramerton was experiencing water issues Thursday morning. Gaston County communications said that they were receiving calls from all over town about a water outage.
Utility crews were scheduled to work on the line from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 3 a.m. Thursday, but customers were still having water pressure problems.
Crews told Channel 9 they hoped to have everything working properly by 8 a.m.
