CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department found two men flying drones over uptown Wednesday night.
Officers found the men on top of an apartment building off Martin Luther King Boulevard around 9:30 p.m.
Neither the FAA nor CMPD would say if those men are facing charges.
The FAA has strict rules regarding drones.
They can't be flown within five miles of an airport, over groups of people or sporting events.
This latest report comes just days after two near misses involving drones.
Last week, Channel 9 reported CMPD's helicopter almost hit a drone while flying over uptown.
On Friday, a drone came dangerously close to a plane full of passengers trying to land at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
