STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators said a 17-year-old boy drowned in Badin Lake in Stanly County Wednesday night.
Authorities recovered the body with the assistance of sonar just before 9 p.m. at the end of Old Whitney Road near the fishing pier in New London.
Officials said there were three teenagers swimming in the lake when one went under water and never resurfaced.
There is no sign of alcohol use or any other suspicious factors at this time.
The victim has not been identified.
Officials are still investigating. No other details have been released at this time.
