CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police told Channel 9 early Thursday morning that they have charged a woman with murder in a deadly east Charlotte shooting.
Officers charged Rece King, 21, in the shooting death of 27-year-old Christopher Watson Jr.
The shooting happened around 5 p.m. at the Fairmarket Square Apartments, off Fairmarket Place.
Neighbors said King and Watson were dating and that the shooting happened after an argument, but police have not confirmed that.

“It was a brief argument,” witness Trey Woolfolk said. “One gun shot went off.”
He said he heard the two argue in the breezeway of the apartment building then he heard the gunshot.
He said King drove away after the shooting.

Rikki Walker told Channel 9 he's known Watson since they were in middle school.
“I bump into him two, three times a day,” Walker said. “It’s going to be sad to not see him no more, to be honest with you.”
Walker said the couple’s relationship was volatile.
