Experts suggest a way to challenge your phone company

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Action 9 is hearing from viewers who are unhappy with their cellphone companies.

The Better Business Bureau said more people complain about cellphone providers than about any other industry.

It can be a challenge to get an issue resolved, but Action 9 Investigator Jason Stoogenke said there's one method that can increase your chances.

Instead of calling customer service, try using the online chat. And here's the important part: Print a transcript. In most cases, it's easy to print one. You should see a print option above the chat.

A customer recently contacted Action 9 and said her phone company, Verizon, promised to knock $30 off her bill -- twice. She had it in writing because she contacted the company through online chat and printed the transcripts.

Even though she had trouble getting Verizon to honor its promise, Stoogenke he was able to get it taken care of fairly quickly thanks in part to the saved transcripts.

"When you have that proof right in your hand, it definitely helps seal the deal," Better Business Bureau president Tom Bartholomy said.
